Grapevine diseases are a major source of concern to the grape and wine industry in the United States, and throughout the rest of the world. These diseases can have a significant effect on grape production, impacting the quality of production as well as yield volumes, making it critically important to identifying the source of the infection and minimize its spread in order to reduce economic losses.

How We Diagnose Grapevine Diseases

At Sunburst, we assist vineyards, growers, and nurseries with the identification of diseases caused by fungi, bacteria, viruses, viroids, phytoplasma, and nematodes. We use a variety of traditional and cutting edge diagnostic techniques, including culture-based identification, microscopy, ELISA, real-time and reverse PCR, and gene sequencing.

Once we have identified the causal agents, our specialists develop a customized remedial program to help reverse the effects of the infection and improve the overall sustainability and production of the vineyard.

We also offer complete vineyard inspections, in which we work closely with growers to identify problems, collect necessary samples, and develop a comprehensive solution to remedy identified issues.
